Privacy Policy

The short version: Reverse Tax Calculator doesn't collect personal information from visitors, doesn't require an account, and doesn't store the numbers you type into the calculator. The details below explain exactly what happens behind the scenes when you visit.

What the calculator does with your inputs

The reverse tax calculator runs entirely in your browser. When you type a total and a tax rate, the math happens locally on your device. Those values are never sent to our servers, never logged, and never stored after you close the tab. There is no form submission, no API call, and no database write.

The only thing that gets saved between sessions is the light/dark mode preference, which is stored in a single first-party cookie named theme-mode. That cookie is a plain text string ("light" or "dark"). It contains no identifiers and expires after one year. You can delete it from your browser settings anytime.

Analytics and logs

Our host (Cloudflare Pages) keeps standard access logs that include request IP address, timestamp, and the URL requested. These are retained by Cloudflare for a short period as part of their standard service and are used only to serve the site and defend against abuse. We don't connect those logs to any personal identity.

If we enable Cloudflare Web Analytics, it records page views using a cookie-free, sampled approach. It doesn't use client-side fingerprinting, doesn't track you across sites, and doesn't build a profile tied to your identity. If we ever switch to a different analytics tool, we'll pick one with comparable privacy characteristics and update this page.

Advertising

We may show advertising through Google AdSense. If AdSense is active, Google may set cookies in your browser to serve ads and measure performance. You can review and control those preferences in the Google Ads Settings panel, or opt out of personalized ads at Your Online Choices. We never share anything you type in the calculator with any advertiser.

External links

Blog posts and tool pages link out to the Tax Foundation, the IRS website, and state Department of Revenue portals. Once you follow one of those links, you're on that site and their privacy policies apply. We have no control over what they collect.

GDPR and CCPA

Under the GDPR (EU/UK) and CCPA (California), you have the right to access, correct, or delete personal data a company holds about you. Because we don't collect personal data through the calculator itself, the only data tied to you would be in server logs or third-party advertising cookies. Requests about first-party data can be sent to contact@reversetaxcalculator.com. For third-party cookies, use the provider's own opt-out mechanism linked above.

Children

The calculator is a general-purpose tool and isn't directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13.

Changes to this policy

When the policy changes materially (for example, if we add a new analytics provider), the "Last updated" date at the top will move forward and we'll summarize what changed at the top of the page for 30 days.
